Summer in Nahant 3 - mid-Sept to mid-Nov

So summer went by in a flash.  Between beautiful warm days and rain and life, it happened.

Gene and two of her friends decided they would go get 'Continuing Learning Credits' they need every year at a conference in Portland Maine in early October.  We headed up in the RV to stay for a long weekend in Gorham - just outside of Portland.  Turned into a spectacular leaf peeping excursion (which is what I think Gene planned all along).  Great campsite and we took the dogs who are really getting into the whole RV/Camping thing.  Really enjoyed all the walks.  BenF - an old fishing buddy who lives in the area - came over with a few local beers and had a great catch up around the fire.  Portland is really a great little city/big town.

The next weekend our newly minted nomads/homeless - Tim and Anne - came to stay before they headed off to Spain to house-sit for a few weeks.  They had sold their house and all their life possessions are in a 10x15 storage unit somewhere in Essex.  The intention is that Tim will still work remote, but they will be traveling everywhere.  See their blogspot here http://timbouwer.com.

So far this year we have had 3 friends up and leave.  There is Tim and Anne, and then Sharon; who just sold up, packed the mini and headed off x-country.  She is now somewhere in Spain and actually met up with Tim and Anne. And then there is Tom who decided to retire, sold his home and moved to western Massachusetts.  Crazy times.

Just before we left for Mexico City, we went up to Princeton for a sleep-over at Bob and Tess.  Actually managed to go do another 16 miles of looking at leaves...

Also managed to entice eldest son to come home and say goodbye.  Fired up the fire pit on the patio for the first time in about 10 years.

See the Mexico blog here..... lots of pics

After getting back from Mexico City on Tuesday, the 8th it was a frantic 3 days to get the RV ready as I needed to leave on Friday to do just under 700 miles by Sunday to get to Natural Bridge, VA.

30 July 2024: Turnaround in northern Oregon and packing away the Whale

So got to the furthest northern point of my trip - Seaside, Oregon.  I must say the Oregonians(?) keep their town names pretty simple.  Be...
